MENNOHIVES PROJECT

Location: Migori County

Focus: Sustainable Beekeeping

Community Members: 100

Project Overview

MDS-Kenya is implementing a Creation Care project in Migori County focused on sustainable beekeeping as a pathway to environmental restoration and improved livelihoods.

The initiative promotes biodiversity by strengthening pollinator populations while supporting vulnerable households, especially widows and smallholder farmers, through training, provision of beehives and value addition in honey production.

The project equips 100 community members with modern apiculture skills and supports the establishment of functional apiaries.

Through market linkages, capacity building and community-led management, the project strengthens sustainable livelihoods while restoring degraded ecosystems and advancing inclusive, nature-based economic empowerment in Migori County.
